Elphin Music Festival July 2011

The 1st Elphin Music Festival

To the delight of locals and visitors alike Elphin’s first Music Festival commenced at 4pm (or near enough for government work…) with an impressive list of musical talent which even (to our own surprise!) included a star from Brooklyn – April Smith – who happened to be holidaying in the area. Festival goers were more fortunate than those attending the golf tournament in Inverness as weather held off with prolonged periods of sunshine (without the showers) for the duration of this 4 hour event.

This was a family day and many activities were laid on for children as well as adults. These activities included ‘Dunking for Apples’, the ‘Hula Hoop competition’ and ‘Eating as many baked Beans (one at a time with a cocktail stick!) in 30 seconds’. For the adults there was a ‘Guess the weight’ of the salmon, a raffle (1st prize a holiday in Kinlochbervie – apologies to those already living in Kinlochbervie!) and a ‘Throw the Ball game’ that offered the chance to win a bottle of whisky.

Coffees, teas, cakes & beef and veggie burgers were available throughout the event and music lovers of all ages were entertained by the many different performers who provided a diverse and enjoyable blend of musical entertainment.
